We have left for Australia and five days at sea before we reach Tahiti.  But for now, more information about Hawaii.

Our third island stop was Kahului, Maui.

We were going to see the white Bengal tiger at the Zoo, but he had hurt his foot and was not available for viewing, so we decided to catch a free shuttle to the Queen Ka’ahumanu Center.

It was a beautiful mall, just like those on the mainland except it was open-air. It had like canvas spread across the aisles but were not tied to each other which allowed a marvelous breeze throughout. We had lunch in the food court. Not many places do you see a food court that has signs do not feed the birds.

Here is the Queen, which was in the middle of the mall.

That evening, we went to our Luau on the island. As the Luau begins, we hear the conch shell trumpeting.

Next, they did up the pig that has been cooking in the sand.

Here is the pig as it is carried for final preparation.

As we eat the feast that has been prepared, the breeze is blowing nicely as the sunsets. You can see the torches that have been lit and surrounding the Luau.

As the evening continues, the sun has set and the full moon comes over the island in a brilliant display.

Now that we have finished eating, the show begins. We are shown a number of different dances from not only Hawaii, but also the Polynesian islands. Obviously, the Hula was a hit.

To finish the Luau, we had a traditional fire dance. This guy was amazing.

A perfect night. As we continued back to the hotel, we looked forward to another must in Hawaii, a volcano.

I must be off!
