We are off again. This time, we are doing back-to-back in
the Bahamas.
The primary reason for the cruise was that our youngest son
got married on the Beach at Half Moon Cay. It was a beautiful ceremony with the
gorgeous water and the Carnival Victory in the background.
Our son and family left after the first cruise, but we decided to stay on because that made Rexie Diamond status.
We were treated as we expected from Carnival, fantastic.
However, this second cruise has been amazing. I can’t imagine it is just because
we are Diamond, but maybe because we are just great people. J
We have talked with so many of the crew this cruise and they
have been so nice to us. Even the Captain allowed my son and family to visit
the bridge as we left Nassau. What a treat for them. We know from past
experience that taking the Behind the Fun Tour they are very security conscious
and allowed our family to take pictures even though they are normally not
allowed.
As we were the only guests onboard the ship between cruises,
we had a chance to talk with the Head Chef for a few minutes. Once Chef ViVek
found we were doing back-to-backs, he asked us if there was anything that we
didn’t get on the menus because he didn’t want us to be bored with the food. We
personally think that there are plenty of options, but Rexie mentioned that
since this was only a five day cruise, that crème brulee was not on the menu.
The chef said he would fix it for us and asked if we had ever had it with
hazelnut. He then asked if we wanted
filet mingon some evening. I told him that Rexie was the steak person and she
said yes immediately.
Well, the first night we had the crème brulee with hazelnut.
It was the BEST (ABSOLUTE THE BEST) we ever had. The Chef then stopped by later and
asked Rexie how she wanted her steak the next night.
The next night the chef sent her the fillet mingon for
dinner. I am not really a steak person, but even I thought it looked fabulous. We
then found a plate of strawberries and desserts in our cabin from the Chef. Not
sure how we became such good friends.
The third night we thought we were done with the Chef’s
gifts. Upon ordering dessert, Mario our waiter said that the Chef had a special
dessert for us. He sent us another crème
brulee. WOW!
So, we can’t wait for tonight to see what the Chef has
planned for us.
We are sitting on deck watching the tenders go to Half Moon
Cay. They are really rocking as we have high winds and an overcast sky. The
Captain mentioned that he thought the weather would be like this or worse the
whole week. Yesterday we had rain and may have some today. It was good that the
wedding was last week as it would be a real bummer if it was today.
More on our Chef surprises later...
I must be off!
